Summary

You can use the following fields of application with your browser and internet connection:

General access to the portal

Sessions with tools

Audio conferences

Audio conferences can only be tested with your help. These tests require your input:
Microphone, Loudspeaker

Video conferences

Here you can see if your browser is optimally prepared for collaborative work. Simply go through the list to resolve any problems directly.

Note on the process:
Gear icon = action required:
Switch to the corresponding test; usually a short input from you is required here.

Browser

For smooth audio and video transmission, please use one of these browsers in the latest version:

  • Microsoft Edge
  • Google Chrome
  • Apple Safari
  • Mozilla Firefox (only limited audio and video functions possible)

Note on your settings:
To use the site, JavaScript must be enabled. If JavaScript is blocked, the system automatically displays a warning.

Performance

Video communication is particularly benefiting from high processing and Internet connection speed. The measured values provide an initial estimate, but do not provide evidence for the long-term stability of the connection.

This test measures the speed of your computer and your internet connection. The result shows you how many video images you can see fluently at the same time in a session.

Tip for poor measurement values:
Some antivirus programs significantly slow down performance in the browser. If your result is too low, you can add the address of this page as an exception in your antivirus program settings.

Connection browser-server

Direct background connection is required for collaborative editing.

What you can do if the connection is not established:

  • Reload page: Sounds simple, but often resolves temporary connection issues.
  • Test another browser: Try using a modern browser (e.g., Chrome, Edge, or Safari) for testing.
  • Change network: If you are on a corporate network or VPN, try briefly using your mobile data network (if possible).

Details for your IT administration
If the steps above do not help, a corporate firewall or proxy server is likely blocking the WebSocket connection.

Camera

Your browser is trying to activate your camera. Please confirm the browser prompt with Allow.

If the camera image does not load:

  • Access blocked? Look for a crossed-out camera symbol in or next to your browser's address bar. Click on it to allow access permanently.
  • Wrong camera selected? You can switch between multiple cameras (e.g., laptop camera and external webcam) using the same camera symbol in the address bar.

Microphone

Requirement: The browser needs to have access to your microphone. A description on how to give your browser authorization to access the microphone and camera can be found in the test. Camera.

Microphone:

How to test your microphone:
Speak normally into your microphone. Allow the browser access if necessary. Once the volume level reaches at least 50%, the test is considered passed.

Problems with the level?

  • No deflection: Check if the microphone is muted on the device itself.
  • Too quiet or no signal: Open your computer's sound settings to select the correct input device and increase the microphone volume:
    • Windows: Settings → System → Sound → Input
    • macOS: System Settings → Sound → Input

Loudspeaker

Loudspeaker:

Start the music using the player's play button. If you can hear the sound well, confirm with OK.

You hear nothing?

Check if your device is connected and the general system volume is turned up. If the sound is only missing in this browser, check your operating system's volume settings:

  • Windows: Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and open the Volume Mixer. Check if the slider for your browser is turned down or muted.
  • macOS: Open System Settings → Sound → Output. Make sure the correct device (e.g., your headphones) is selected under "Output" and the overall volume is correct.

Video conference

This test checks whether your video image can be successfully transmitted over the internet. Requirement: You have previously allowed the browser to access your camera.

Once the connection is established, you will see the confirmation on the left: "Video connection successfully established".

If the connection fails:

Your network's firewall may be blocking video transmission.

Details for your IT administration:
Transmission uses the WebRTC standard. Please ensure that connections via our video server are allowed via UDP.
